Lugar de Vilar, Galegos, Penafiel
Monte Mozinho is a fortified settlement built on top of a hill with three lines of defensive walls, which occupies an area of over 200,000 m2. This "castro" combines the hill fort tradition with the Roman culture which are displayed in the courtyard-homes with circular shapes and a foyer and in the regular layout of the streets.
This settlement underwent a fairly long occupation - which lasted from the 1st century AD until after the 5th century AD - and is definitely worth visiting, together with the Interpretive Centre and the Municipal Museum of Penafiel that can provide you with additional information.
