Porto Manso is a village from the parish of Ribadouro, in the municipality of Baião. It is a village that keeps growing due to the extraordinary nature of its surrounding landscape that includes the Pala dam and the mouth of the river Ovil, in the hamlet of Poço Negro. The village also became famous thanks to the namesake novel by Alves Redol, in which the writer portrays the Portuguese social reality of the mid-1940s.
