The church of Saint Peter was built in the 18th century, on the site of the old chapel of St. Martin, which, in turn, had already been occupied by the Misericórdia of Amarante. The work was commissioned at the request of the Brotherhood of St. Peter and was probably completed in 1727, the date engraved on the keystone of the arch that shapes the window found on the main façade. The temple's Baroque façade is marked by its verticality. It is divided into three floors: on the ground floor, at the centre, there is a rectangular door surmounted by a pediment interrupted by volutes and topped by a massive and hectic cartouche, where a tiara and a papal cross appear.
