On Saturday 22 March, at 6.15pm, the Monastery of Saint Mary of Cárquere, in Resende will host a concert by the ars Ad Hoc group.
Founded in 2018, ars Ad Hoc is a chamber music group that performs regularly at the Serralves Foundation in Porto and at the biennials organised by the Arte no Tempo association at the Aveirense Theatre in Aveiro, as well as taking music to different places, always with the same high standards.
The programme for the concert at the Monastery of Cárquere includes two contemporary works and the String Quartet by Maurice Ravel (1875-1937). As well as marking the 150th anniversary of the composer's birth, the programme includes a string quartet by Oscar Bianchi (Milan, 1975) and the String Quartet No. 1 [2023] by composer Mariana Vieira (1997).
The ars Ad Hoc will be represented by the musicians Matilde Loureiro and Diogo Coelho on violins, Francisco Lourenço on viola and Gonçalo Lélis on cello.
The concert, which is free to attend, is supported by Banco BPI, Fundação 'la Caixa', Cision and Direção-Geral das Artes.
