Combining circus, movement and a circular stage structure that envelops the audience, the show Conhort/Conforto, by the Hotel Iocandi company, comes to us from Catalonia, Spain, to give voice to the fragility and beauty of shared existence.

Conhort/Conforto is a small refuge: a poetic and tragicomic piece that explores the idea of consolation with a delicate and profound look at human relationships.

If, as Stig Dagerman wrote, “our need for consolation is impossible to satisfy”, this play is an ode to the miseries that make us equal and allow us to recognise happiness in a shared nest of losers.

The title refers to the archaic Catalan word for “consolation” or “comfort”: and nothing less than that is what we hope for on this summer’s evening.

Organised by Ponto C - Cultura e Criatividade, the Conhort/Conforto event is scheduled for Saturday 20 June at 10 pm, at Monastery of Paço de Sousa Square, Penafiel.
