Since 21 March, the Route of the Romanesque has been welcoming groups of tourists from the American market for weekly visits on Thursday afternoons.
These visits, which will continue until November, include a variable number of participants, between 25 and 45 per group, and are the result of a partnership with the tour operator Travel 4 Experiences.
In the territory of the Route of the Romanesque, the programme of visits, in which around 300 people have taken part so far, includes the Interpretation Centre of the Romanesque, in Lousada, and the Monastery of the Saviour of Travanca, in Amarante. At this National Monument, there will also be a short Gregorian Chant performance by Richard Bradley.
This tourist programme starts at the quayside in Vila Nova de Gaia, where visitors take a boat to the Crestuma/Lever dam. They then travel by coach to the Route of the Romanesque properties and then to the Porto Antigo pier in Cinfães, where they return by boat to the interior of the Douro Valley.
