In the 2022-2023 school year, the Route of the Romanesque launches the fourth edition of its school competition, this time under the theme Sculpture in the Route of the Romanesque.
The competition is aimed at the school community, from pre-school to secondary education (public and private), within the territory that is currently covered by the Route of the Romanesque, consisting of 12 municipalities in the Sousa, Douro and Tâmega valleys: Amarante, Baião, Castelo de Paiva, Celorico de Basto, Cinfães, Felgueiras, Lousada, Marco de Canaveses, Paços de Ferreira, Paredes, Penafiel and Resende.
The works to be presented in this school competition should creatively explore the vast sculptural heritage present in the monuments and interpretation centres of the Route of the Romanesque: tympanums, capitals, corbels, corbels, staves, sigils, friezes, among other artistic details.
The competition will award prizes to the three best works in each of the following categories, by stage of education:
a) Modeling: Pre-School Education and 1st Cycle of Primary Education;
b) Drawing: 2nd and 3rd Cycles of Primary Education;
c) Photography: Secondary Education.
You can apply for the Competition here, until 28 April, 2023. The deadline for receipt of works is at 11:59 p.m. on 19 May. Read the Competition Regulations in the Documents.
The Sculpture in the Route of the Romanesque school competition is co-financed by Norte 2020, Portugal 2020 and the European Union, through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
