In the 2020-2021 school year, the Route of the Romanesque launches the second edition of the "Popular Traditions on the Route of the Romanesque" School Competition.
The Competition is aimed at the school community, from pre-school to secondary education (public and private), within the territory that is currently covered by the Route of the Romanesque, consisting of 12 municipalities in the Sousa, Douro and Tâmega valleys: Amarante, Baião, Castelo de Paiva, Celorico de Basto, Cinfães, Felgueiras, Lousada, Marco de Canaveses, Paços de Ferreira, Paredes, Penafiel and Resende.
The works submitted to this School Competition should creatively explore the vast intangible heritage of the Route of the Romanesque: knowledge, know-how, festivities, songs, dances, myths, traditions, among many other manifestations of local popular culture.
We are particularly interested in works that manage to highlight the link between intangible heritage and the monuments of the Route of the Romanesque.
The Competition will award prizes to the three best works in each of the following categories, by stage of education:
a) Illustration: Pre-School Education and 1st Cycle of Primary Education;
b) Literary creation: 2nd and 3rd Cycles of Primary Education;
c) Photography: Secondary Education.
You can apply for the Competition here, until 31 March, 2021. The deadline for receipt of works is at 11:59 p.m. on 10 May. Read the Competition Regulations.
The «Popular Traditions on the Route of the Romanesque» school competition is co-financed by Norte 2020, Portugal 2020 and the European Union, through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
